From a Tulsa Tribune article dated April 13, 1924.
A new civic club was inaugurated in Tulsa this week, when the Tulsa Architects' association was formally launched by the election of officers and directors and the adoption of s constitution and by-laws.
Unlike most technical or artistic societies, the new organization will not be devoted to strictly technical subjects arid matters, but will take an active part in civic affairs, ac cording to the plans of the organizers, who include many of the most prominent architects in the city.
The club will hold weekly luncheons each Tuesday. At present, these luncheons will be held at the Tea Cup Inn. It will be modeled much along the lines of other civic organizations, but will also devote a part of its attention to matters that will tend to advance the profession to an even higher plane.
The formation of the club has been under way for some time; the organizers pointing out that the architectural profession is the only one of the fine arts profession which has not been represented by a definite civic or technical organization in Tulsa, while at the same time it plays a most important part in the actual development of any city. In addition the individual members of the profession take a prominent part in some civic affairs, but the profession as a whole has been somewhat backward in giving organized attention to civic affairs.
Members of the new club point out that several of the club's organizers are now voluntarily giving their services In the formation of Tulsa's new building code, and that without the services of trained and competent architects it would be possible to form a building c which' would meet the needs o growing city.
